An individual facing cognitive disabilities experienced a series of challenges that left them without stable housing. Their situation took a turn for the worse when a loved one succumbed to Covid, resulting in the loss of their place of residence. In a desperate attempt to escape an abusive living situation with a family member, they sought assistance from the local library.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the librarian reached out to the North Central Community Action Program. NCCAP, committed to aiding vulnerable individuals in times of crisis, swiftly intervened. They promptly secured temporary emergency housing for the individual while working diligently to find a permanent apartment. With much compassion and support, the North Central Community Action Program collaborated with a landlord to ensure that the individual would have a safe and stable place to call home. They also provided the financial assistance needed to cover the first month's rent and the security deposit, alleviating their worries, and granting them a fresh start in their new apartment. Thanks to their collaborative efforts, and the help of United Way, the individual could begin their journey towards a more secure and stable life.
